The print issues of VYPE DFW’s Football Preview Magazine currently available on free racks celebrate one Denton County player who apparently will not be playing in 2013 after all. The Denton Record-Chronicle reports Krum senior quarterback Caz Wojciak was dismissed from the team Friday per head coach and athletic director Gary Robinson.
The DRC reports Wojciak was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Krum’s first year playing University Interscholastic League football was one of the area’s Cinderella stories of 2012. The Bobcats finished second in District 9-3A and made the playoffs. Wojciak was a big factor in Krum’s inaugural success, rushing for 1,187 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also threw for 847 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Robinson told the DRC that sophomore Colten Graham will replace Wojciak as the team’s starting quarterback.
Graham started at quarterback on the freshman team last year.
“He’s just a sophomore, but I think he’s going to develop into a great leader,” Robinson told the DRC. “The kids have already started to rally around him after the scrimmage last night. I saw several of them going up to him and patting him on the back and giving him high-fives, even our seniors. They’re really behind him.”
