February 21, 2014: UPDATE: Baptiste visits Texas A&M

January, 2014 UPDATE: Baptiste transfers to Prestonwood Christian after playing first half of season at ESD.

Episcopal School of Dallas has added 6-11 junior Djery Baptiste to its boys’ basketball roster this season. Djery is considered one of the nation’s top prospects and is being recruited by many including UConn, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M, Providence, Cincinnati, UCLA, West Virginia, Miami and Harvard. Baptiste plays for the Texas Titans of Dallas’ Kenny Troutt, whose son Grant also is a junior ESD guard.

Baptiste left Wilbraham & Monson (MA) in the middle of last season and attended school in Plano before enrolling this summer at ESD.

Playing for the Titans this summer, Baptiste was among the top players at the Great American Shootout (GASO) in Duncanville. He’s been measured for a 7-5 wingspan and he has exceptional timing as a shot-blocker. Strongly built, Baptiste (225 pounds) is a major college prospect as a rebounder. His offensive skills consist primarily of powerful dunks, but he can athletically run the floor. He compares to Miami Heat forward Chris Andersen but has time develop much more offensively.
