By on December 4, 2013 12:52 pm

Former Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward has resigned as head football coach at Houston Westbury Christian after six seasons, according to multiple reports. Ward was a star quarterback at Florida State in 1992 and 1993 and his No. 17 at No. 1-ranked Florida State is revered. The multi-talented Ward also played in the NBA.
Ward and his family had become an integral part of the Houston Westbury community with an Excellence Award named in Ward’s honor to recognize outstanding Houston-area individuals.
Westbury improved to a 6-4 record in 2012 after several years as a struggling program in TAPPS Division II. Westbury was 1-9 last season.
Ward was an overwhelming winner of the 1993 Heisman over heath Shuler of Tennessee, David Palmer of Alabama and Marshall Faulk of San Diego State.
