Defending Class 4A champion Aledo (Texas) High has agreed to host La Puente (Cali.) Bishop Amat in the early going of the 2014 season.

Hercules Sports Management president Brian Hercules negotiated the game and informed NationalHSFootball.com that the two will play on Sept. 5 at 8pm in the Lone Star State.

Aledo was ranked No. 54 in the HSFB100 to conclude the 2013 season while Bishop Amat finished with a 6-4 record and was not ranked in the expanded California Top 30.

The four losses by Amat were by a combined 23 points and to quality opponents, Rancho Cucamonga (Cali.) High, Sherman Oaks (Cali.) Notre Dame, Mission Hills (Cali.) Alemany and Encino (Cali.) Crespi.

Amat will be returning two prospects from the Class of2016 in defensive back Trevon Sidney and athlete Tyler Vaughns.

Sidney played on both sides of the ball but in a limited capacity on offense rushing just 10 times and making 15 receptions on the year.

He was more active on the defensive side of the ball where he made 30 tackles and made eight interceptions.

Vaughns was the second leading receiver on the team — behind junior Brandon Arconado — with 27 receptions and nearly 400 yards.

Aledo will look like a different team next year as it will be turning over all five starters on the offensive line as well as being forced to replace Daythan Davis.

The program set a new all-time scoring record in high school football with 1023 total points in 2013.

The game has been agreed to by both parties and will become official once all potential appeals to the new districting are heard by mid-February.
