Austin Lane Has The Lefty QB Touch

Here you go fans of that lefty QB.  Austin Lane of Lakewood HS ( WA) is a 6’3″- 200 lb Junior who is for sure a rising recruit in the 2018 Class.  The rangy pocket passer has a lot to offer any school and his recent film showcases that. Have a look below.

In his Junior year Lane went 176 of 304 (57.9%) for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns and he also rushed for four touchdowns as well.  While he is good in the pocket he also showed the ability to run and extend plays.  While he has much work to do, like all Juniors, Austin is showing a range of skills consistent with the better recruits we see each season that move on to college.

There are not that many left handers in the NFL but over the years they have made their mark with guys like Steve Young, Boomer Esiason, Kenny Stabler, and Mark Brunell leading the charge.  Most people don’t think about it but football is a Right handed game where the majority of plays are going to be based on a right handed QB.

Lefties spin the ball the opposite way that a righty does and they also have a better view of the Defensive End on the left side who is usually the quick or blind-side guy.  This can be an advantage too.  Clearly there are great QB’s all over the NW in the High School ranks and Austin Lane is one of them.

Have a look at his film and keep an eye out for Austin in the 2017 off season as our camp reports come in.
