Despite a slow start to the season, largely due to injuries, the Mustangs found their groove as playoff time approached and never looked back. After capturing the 5A Title in 2023, Mag West would end up reaching the State Semis for the second time in program history last June.
Unfortunately, their hopes for a repeat were dashed by Lovejoy in a 4-0 loss. Now, as the Dirt Boys ascend to District 15-6A in the realignment, they’ll face new competition, including defending State Champions Tomball, as well as Klein Cain, Klein Oak, Klein Collins, and others.
It won’t take long for coach Travis Earles and his team to make their presence felt, thanks to a roster brimming with talent. Baylor-commit Caldwell McFaddin returns to lead the batting order and will anchor the infield from third base.
He’ll be joined by junior shortstop Lukas Huff. The outfield will feature a rotation of seniors Cody Palacios (San Jacinto JC), Carson Dunaway, Cooper Wilkinson, and Carson Parker. On the mound, senior Nolan Cruz is expected to take on a leading role this spring.

Following an undefeated (14-0) district championship in 2024, the Chargers were unexpectedly eliminated in the Area Round by Port Neches-Groves in Game 3.
This season, they are determined to bounce back as they move up to District 20-6A, where they’ll face new challenges from teams like the Alief schools, along with familiar opponents such as Foster and George Ranch.
The Chargers return plenty of talent, led by senior pitcher and infielder Ty Powell, the 2024 District 20-5A MVP. Committed to Texas State, Powell was a dual-threat last season, posting a 7-1 record on the mound and hitting .354 at the plate.
Alongside Powell, Fulshear boasts an experienced roster, including first-team all-district selections: Mark Macklin (Jr. OF), Logan Hudson (Sr. 3B), and Mason Schultz (Sr. 2B), who is committed to McMurry University. Senior left-hander Guy Arroyos (first-team) will strengthen the bullpen, while Riley Chamberlain (Sr. SS), Jake McIntire (Sr. 1B), and Hunter Nedd (Sr. OF) provide additional leadership.
A rising star, sophomore Dominic “Trey” Giametta (So. P/DH) – the District Newcomer of the Year and an Alabama-commit – adds even more versatility and intrigue to the squad. Suffice it to say, Fulshear is loaded and should make an impactful introduction to the Class 6A scene.
