THE HIERARCHY: VYPE SATX Week 5 Football Rankings; Alamo Heights, Pieper still undefeated
23 Sep, 2024
With district matchups on the horizon, it's time to get into the nitty gritty of San Antonio high school football.
Both Alamo Heights and Pieper maintain their perfect start to the season.
While Cibolo Steele did drop their first game of 2023 -- notably, against state-power Westlake -- it's tough to see them dropping in the overall rankings, considering the proficiency the showcase in the back-half of each year's schedule.
Meanwhile, Smithson Valley secured a key win over Boerne-Champion.
Other teams who continue to trend upwards include SA Johnson, New Braunfels, and Davenport.
That said, check out the VYPE SATX football composite rankings as we transition to the district portion of the fall.

THE HIERARCHY: VYPE SATX Volleyball Updated Rankings; O'Connor, Pieper, Brennan gaining momentum
23 Sep, 2024
Bradley C. Collier (VYPE)
Well, it's official.
O'Connor is LEGIT!
Just two weeks removed from defeating fellow state-powers Harlan and Brennan, the Panthers have surged to a 6-0 start in their brutal district and are poised at the top of the San Antonio landscape.
That's not meant to dismiss the Hawks or Bears, though. They're going to be just fine as they prepare for imminent playoff runs.
Other notable teams in 6A include Reagan, Clark, Canyon, and Madison, who should only continue to improve as the rest of district plays out.
Meanwhile, Pieper has dominated in Class 5A. However, New Braunfels, Boerne-Champion, and Tivy could give them a run for their money.
That said, here is our composite list of teams battling for supremacy entering October.

VYPE HOUSTON Updated Volleyball Rankings amid district-play; Cy Woods, Tomball Memorial climbing
23 Sep, 2024
Bradley C. Collier (VYPE)
Well, it's official.
Stratford is LEGIT!
After defeating fellow state-power Fulshear two weeks ago in a riveting five-set match, the Spartans solidify the top spot in Houston.
However, it wouldn't come as a shock if the two meet each other again in the postseason.
While Grand Oaks, Cy Ranch, The Woodlands, Cinco Ranch, and Ridge Point continue to ball out, teams such as Cy Woods, Dickinson, and Tomball Memorial have quietly risen to the spotlight.
In Class 5A, Friendswood and Lake Creek appear locked in for deep playoff runs. However, West Fork no longer seems to be the underdog, now that they've secured a 3-0 start in district.
Lutheran South Academy still dominates the private school landscape, with St. Agnes and FBCA hot on their heels.
That said, here is our composite break-down of teams battling for supremacy entering October.
