Melissa girls soccer has been dominating against their opponents all season long. The Lady Cardinals finished district play in the second place spot- just behind Celina. This week, the Lady Cardinals are headed into a Regional Semifinals battle against Kilgore. VYPE DFW breaks down what fans can expect on Friday:
The Lady Cardinals posted a 12-2 district record this season as they went up against the likes of Farmersville, Caddo Mills, Anna, Bonham and more. Melissa has outscored their opponents by 95 goals so far this season while recording an 85% winning percentage. With the ability to maintain high-speed focus throughout the game, the Lady Cardinals are able to halt other offenses in their tracks.
So far during playoffs, Melissa has defeated Sunnyvale (4-3), North Dallas (6-0), and Ann (2-1). The team has played outstanding defense- allowing only four goals against them. Meanwhile, their offense has taken no short cuts and remains consistent with scoring early and often. As the team prepares to go head-to-head against Kilgore (12-11-3), fans can expect the Lady Cardinals to control the entirety of the game.
The game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8th at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler, Texas.
