Quanell Farrakhan Jr. is one of the Space City's more coveted talents.
The Woodlands leading receiver a year ago has found a new home at North Shore High School, entering his senior season.
He will have new home a year from now in the Rocky Mountains, as he committed to Colorado today over Texas A&M, Nebraska and Alabama.
Farrakhan chose Colorado and coach Deion Sanders after being offered in early May. Though the Buffs jumped in his recruitment late, after an official visit to Boulder, the star WR knew where home was.
“For me, my recruitment was all about relationships,” Farrakhan said. “After Colorado offered me, they were talking to me every day... calling me, checking up on me outside of football. It really meant a lot and I felt like they built an unbreakable relationship with me.”
“When I got up there, it just felt like home," he said. "Talking with Coach Sanders and Coach Phillips, they just made me feel like I was one of theirs.”
Deion Sanders is a Hall of Famer and knows what it takes to perform at the next level. For the star wide receiver, being coached by Sanders played a big factor in his decision.
“The conversation I had with Coach Sanders was amazing from the jump," he said. "He kept it real with me and that’s what I want from a coach. Not everybody gets to play for a Hall of Fame coach and have all the lights on you like at Colorado.”
With the commitment out of the way, Farrakhan Jr. is looking forward to a big senior season with North Shore. Winning an elusive State Title is the goal, but he sees his future as clear as the Rocky Mountain snow.
“Buffs fans, see you soon," he said. "I’m coming… Like Coach Sanders says, 'I ain’t hard to find and I’m excited to get work!'”
