READY THE TROOPS: No. 25 South Houston eyeing a district three-peat and more
25 -- SOUTH HOUSTON TROJANS
After securing their second-straight district title, the Trojans proceeded to make a brief playoff appearance to end the year with an impressive record of 27-8.
Granted, a deeper postseason run would be preferred, which might just be the case for coach Frank Watson and company this time around.
The reigning District 22-6A Offensive MVP Jordan Buckner (Sr. G) is back to lead South Houston’s scoring front, after averaging nearly 17 points a game a year ago. Additionally, 6-foot-5 sophomore forward Xavier Muhammad will be a vital piece in the team’s effort to make a three-peat.
Given that there will be seven players who haven’t had any prior varsity experience, Watson stressed that it will be “important for us to get chemistry early, play consistently to our strengths and approach each game with enthusiasm.”
