Aniya’ Foy is headed to the "Little Apple".
Manhattan, New York is known as the “Big Apple”, while the Manhattan, Kansas is the “Little Apple”… the home of Kansas State University.
“Kansas State checked off all the boxes,” the junior Cinco Ranch star said. “They really focus on culture and preach family. I love their style of play, the coaches and the small-town feel.
“Committing takes the stress off and now I’m just focused on basketball and getting prepared for college. My mindset is that, why waste time if you love the school? If you know you want to go to a school… commit. Don’t wait.”
Foy committed to Kansas State Thursday as the summer circuit of AAU basketball begins to heat up. She plays for Cy-Fair Elite, one of the top programs in the country, which prepares her for the high school season.
“I just trust in my game and work so hard at my craft,” she said. “My goal is to play to my fullest potential and inspire younger girls to play with the passion that I have.”
While basketball is her first love, Foy is multi-faceted.
“I’m an Honor Roll student,” she said. “I take my grades seriously. I also love to cook. I’m in a little culinary class. My best dish is shrimp pasta… I love anything with pasta. I also love to sketch and draw. I do everything from cartoons to Rodeo Art. I’m also getting back into playing the piano.
“I love having things I love when I need a break from basketball. I’d say I’m pretty balanced.”
On the court, Foy has defined goals heading into her senior season.
“I want to break the all-time Cinco Ranch scoring record and go deep into the playoffs,” she said. “I want to be a player that everyone will remember and have an impact on my teammates. I want to make everyone better.”
Get ready Kansas State, Foy is ready to cook.
