Last year, Bridgeland went 33-7 overall and reached the Regional Semifinals. Candi Weige (164-53 at Bridgeland; 289 overall coaching wins) returns four starters off that squad, including McLennan Community College-commit Rylie Marquart.
Last season, Marquart hit .389 with 26 RBIs and 13 stolen bases earning her a first-team, all-district spot. Weige believes she will be a “conducive part to the program this year offensively and defensively”.
Avery Marquart, who Weige considers a “true leader by example”, hit .263 with 12 stolen bases a year ago in 28 games. She is a Blinn College-commit. Junior Lucy Sharon hit .364 with three doubles, two homers and 10 RBIs and earned a second-team, all-district pick.
Weige says Sharon, a Tarleton State commit, will be their go-to pitcher this year and can play crucially in the outfield as well. Other players to watch are Camille LeBeouf (.346, 12 RBIs), Luciana Correa, Lexie Mingle and Abby Bvunzawabaya
