Welcome to the 2020 volleyball season. What a weird offseason it was for everyone. No club tournaments to travel to, limited training available but what that means is everyone should be fresh for the 2020 campaign.
VYPE previewed 30 public school teams in this year's VYPE Houston Volleyball Preview. Here is one of the Dark Horses - The Woodlands Highlanders.

The Woodlands Highlanders
It is a little weird to put The Woodlands as a Dark Horse, but that's where they fall this year. The Woodlands move into newly formed District 13-6A. Terri Wade (400-142) enters her sixth year leading the program. The Highlanders reached the Regional Semifinals last year, falling to eventual state champion Plano West. Looking towards 2020, The Woodlands returns four starters. Clara Brower – a MaxPreps All-American – is the headliner. Brower, a Georgia-commit, recorded 1,551 assists and 410 digs, and will be a more "offensive" setter this year. Jackie Lee (500 digs, 93 aces) will fill the role of libero, while Lafayette College-commit Natasha Zorbas (161 kills, 93 blocks) will get "even more opportunities" to block this year. Claire Arend (114 kills) will be a "big role player" with great "6-rotation skills" in 2020. Julieta Valdes – the GHVCA 2019 Newcomer of the Year – is hopeful to return slowly after suffering a Sudden Cardiac Arrest back in May.
