So, 2021 went well.
The Lake Creek Lions opened four years ago and last season the baseball team made school history reaching the postseason. Well, they did more than that as the Lions advanced to the Regional Semifinals under the direction of coach Jeremy Schramm, before losing to eventual Class 5A State Champion Barbers Hill.
After getting over the preverbal playoff hump, now Lake Creek is ready to let it fly. Their five returning starters are pretty decorated. Shane Sdao is a returning first-teamer and will be the ace of the staff. He has signed with Texas A&M. The infield is shored up by first-team shortstop Blake Brown (Sam Houston) and honorable mention, all-state Jaron Lyness (Tyler JC). Samson Pugh and Sam Lee are talents in the outfield after first-and second-team, all-district selections, respectively.
Up-and-coming junior lefty Jackson Wilkerson looks like an elite arm and is committed to Baylor. Another piece to the puzzle is Luke Ekdall, a move-in from Bridgeland, who can play anywhere and hit anything. The Lake Creek Lions are apparently here to stay.
