Since bursting onto the scene of the 7 on 7 circuit going into his Freshman year, Jakoby “Man Child” Dixon looked to be the next big recruit in Texas high school football.
Fast forward to now Dixon is one of the top running back recruits in the State with 15 offers from the likes of Ohio State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas A&M, and Tennessee to name a few.
I caught up with the Brenham superstar talking about his sophomore year, recruiting process, and one team that already is leading the pack for his recruitment.
As a sophomore this past fall Dixon tallied 249 carries for 2,248 yards and 32 touchdowns, helping lead Brenham to the Regional Quarterfinals before falling to the eventual State Champs, Randle.
“Sophomore year went pretty well,” he said. “Obviously still hungry, I got banged up at the end of the year and wasn’t able to lead my team to where we wanted to go in the playoffs but we still made it far and looking to do more next year.”
His play on the field the past two year’s has garnered a lot of attention from many school’s across the country, and for Dixon he’s just soaking it all up.
“I’m really just blessed to be in this position,” Dixon said. “It can be a lot to take care of sometimes but it’s just a blessing from God to be where I’m at right now.”
As of now in his recruitment, one school seems to be leading the pack having already made an early impact.
“Texas A&M is like family, everytime I step on campus I feel like I’m home back in Brenham,” he said. "Coach Elko and Coach Taylor treat me like an Aggie already not just a recruit and that means a lot to me."
Dixon also mentioned Texas and Tennessee as two other school’s who have stood out to him early.
"Texas is a place where I feel like I could set up my family and myself for the future."
The talented 2027 Brenham RB has a big offseason ahead of him, but as far as unofficial visits go, it's safe to say you'll see him make a few more trips up to College Station.
“A&M....” he said smiling.
