Add another name to the growing list of Second Baptist School athletes continuing their careers at the next level.
It was only a matter of time before the SBS dual-sport star JD Crisp got on the recruiting big board for some Power 5 football program.
Only months after having a standout season on the football field, Crisp traveled with his father to the University of Iowa and Minnesota, respectively. A short time after , he got the call to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
“I’m very excited to know that the hard work I’ve been putting in over the last few years is starting to pay off,” said Crisp. “The experience was amazing at both colleges. I learned what it’s like to be a college athlete and the hard work you put in, but most importantly, the family you will create and the desire the coaches have to develop you beyond an athlete.”
In his junior season, the Eagles’ FS/WR earned District MVP honors with a first-team, all-state nod. Who knows what’s in store for his final year this upcoming Fall?
“I’m most looking forward to the new start,” Crisp said. “We have a new coach [Beck Brydon] coming in, and I’m excited to get back out there, work hard and have fun on that field one last year.”
With another football season left in his high school career, Crisp’s recruitment value will only increase as he decides where he wants to commit. The best is yet to come.
Just another reason to be excited about SBS football.
