After a long five seasons, the undefeated district champs have been defeated.
The Ridge Point Panthers lost their first district game Thursday night, 27-23, against the Fort Bend Travis Tigers. Bringing their overall record to 5-2 in the season.
It was a big game for both teams with undefeated records in district. Both the Panthers and the Tigers were ready to put on a show.
The Tigers started with a hurry-up offense giving the Panthers defense no break, but that didn't stop the defensive line from applying pressure to those Tigers.
Throughout the first quarter, the Panthers' offense struggled to get their momentum. A 50-yard touchdown by junior JP Richardson helped the Panthers get a start and tie the game up 10-10 in the first quarter.
In the third and fourth quarters, the Panthers struggled to get a rhythm on offense. The defensive unit couldn't get off the field as Travis' Eric Rodriguez carved them up.
The Panthers' next game will be against the Elkins Knights.
