BASES LOADED: No. 9 Montgomery expected to surge within a tough district
No. 9 -- Montgomery Bears
2023: 11-16-1 (Finished 4th in District/Bi-District Finalist)
The Montgomery Bears could be a sleeper in Class 5A play, under the direction of head coach Michael Starkey.
The Bears have a legit ace in Bryce Navarre, a lefty who is signed to Texas A&M. The senior could be dangerous in district and the postseason.
His counterpart from the right side and also double behind the plate is Camden Clewett. The big-man is committed to Baylor and can also wield the bat.
His brother, Wyatt, is a 6-foot-4 hybrid corner infielder-outfielder. He is the future of Montgomery baseball and should have a breakout season.
Senior Ethan Gebert will be the everyday catcher, while Will McKinzie is the slick-fielding shortstop.
The Bears play in a tough district, so they should be well-prepared for the postseason.
