PREVIEW: Bridgeport hosts Benbrook in final non-district pairing

While some teams are already facing off against district opponents, others are still wrapping up non-district play. This week, Bridgeport is set to host Benbrook in their final non-district matchup of the 2023-24 season. VYPE DFW takes a look at these two teams and what fans can expect headed into week four:

Benbrook Bobcats (3-0)

Following a 1-9 season last year, the Bobcats are on the rise in the 2023 season. Opening their schedule with three victories already, Benbrook has become one of the teams to watch this season. So far, the Bobcats have toppled Sanger (49-27), Iowa Park (34-28), and Mineral Wells (35-20) this season. Continuing to get better day by day, Benbrook has showcased plenty of talent already this season.

Led by the likes of Elijah Guzman, Santiago Merino, Jake Lindsey, Sawyer Clemons, Roman Rabago, Bret Frye, and more, this squad has what it takes to be one of the best teams in the area this season. If they continue on their path, this team will more than prove their ability on the field.

Bridgeport Bulls (0-3)

Having a tough start to the season, Bridgeport has started 0-3. After posting week one and two losses against Burkburnett (48-7) and Bowie (23-9), Bridgeport traveled to Fort Worth last week for a matchup aginst Fort Worth Castleberry. After a hard-fought battle, the Bulls fell 23-6 against Castleberry.

Cayden Rnagel, Abel Valdez, Oscar Romo, Manuel Huerta, Ezequiel Martinez, Cade Tackel, and others have worked hard to focus on this upcoming week as Bridgeport hosts their final non-district game of the season against Benbrook.

What To Expect

Benbrook has been dominating the scene when stepping out onto the field. Looking to continue doing the same, they will do whatever it takes to finish strong against Bridgeport. Last season, the Bobcats fell to the Bulls by a score of 56-21. This season, they are going to battle to ensure a victory. Bridgeport is looking for a big victory in week four; a statement as they gear up to enter district play. Expect a battle out of the Bulls on Friday night.

Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m. in Bridgeport.
