A regular great in private school volleyball, the Bishop Lynch Lady Friars are dominant on the court. Making themselves heard every single moment while taking down opponents is never an issue for Bishop Lynch. As they prepare for the 2023-24 season, VYPE DFW takes a look at what could be for this team.
REWIND
Usually dominant against their preseason opponents— even the ones in UIL— Bishop Lynch had no trouble facing off against some of the best like V.R. Eaton (3-2), McKinney North (3-1), Denton Guyer (3-0), and more. Honing in on necessary adjustments, the team was able to enter a district schedule that would prove to be everything to be proud of.
Posting a 9-3 district record and finishing second in their district, the team was able to show their work on every single test as they defeated John Paul II (3-1), Ursuline (3-1), Nolan Catholic (3-0), Trinity Christian Academy (3-0), and more en route to playoffs. Through playoffs, the team took out Tomball’s Concordia Lutheran (3-0) and San Antonio’s Antonian Prep (3-0) before dropping to Prestonwood Christian Academy.
LOOKING AHEAD
Bishop Lynch can be expected to have a season that mirrors last year. With a tough preseason schedule preparing them for the road to playoffs, athletes like Maddie Smotherman, Riley Seitz, Paloma Gonzalez, and more can be expected to work hard to become championship contenders.
Their preseason schedule has already seen tough opponents and big victories. Bishop Lynch has defeated the likes of Coppell (3-2), Dallas Adams (3-0), Flower Mound Marcus (3-0), and more. With a few more non-district matches before heading into district play the Lady Friars can be sure to keep honing in on their skills and garnering more victories. Their district schedule will see the likes of Prestonwood Christian, Ursuline, Parish Episcopal, John Paul II and more. Looking to secure a playoff spot without any doubt, the team can be expected to fight for their right to play in a TAPPS State Title game.
