It's finally here! Texas high school football's state championship games are upon us. With six different Dallas-Fort Worth area teams vying for a crown, there are plenty of bragging rights on the line. One of the DFW area teams is none-other than the Brock Eagles who are on the hunt for a state title victory over undefeated Franklin.
Brock Eagles (11-4)
With incredible athletes like Jhett Jones, Reid Watkins, Brett Tutter, Carson Finney, Zachary Brewster, Tyler Moody, Cam Harris, and more, the Brock Eagles are making their return to the state championship game after finishing as runner-ups last season. Posting a strong season, the Eagles have outscored their opponents by nearly 300 points. Fans have seen usual strong defense from the Eagles who will look to continue their 11 game win streak at the state title game on Thursday evening.
So far in playoffs, Brock has ended the seasons of Iowa Park, Muleshoe, Bushland, Whitesboro, and most recently Malakoff in a 21-10 victory last week during the UIL State Semi-Finals.
Franklin Lions (15-0)
Franklin is undefeated this season while being led by the likes of Byrson Washington, Braden Smith, Fragiel Owens, Malcom Murphy, Cemion Smith, and more. The team has been a force on the field while outscoring their opponents by nearly 400 points this season. The Lions have held eight of their opponents to two touchdowns or less en route to the state championship game and will look to play strong defense against Brock on Thursday.
So far in playoffs, Franklin has defeated Hallettsville, Anahuac, Hitchcock, Columbus, and most recently Edna by a score of 41-13 in the UIL State Semi-Finals.
What To Expect:
With an offense that likes to take charge, Franklin is going to be a tough team to beat. The Lions are trying to cap their perfect season undefeated with a state title. Fans can expect the Lions to set the tone out of the tunnel. Meanwhile, Brock is on a mission to continue being one of the most recognized names in the state. They have an outstanding defense that has the ability of picking up on offenses quickly to shut them down. Fans can expect Brock to put up a fight and be a wall against Franklin. In a game that could go to anyone, you aren't going to want to miss this showdown!
Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 15th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
