It was a tough fight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday as the Brownsboro Bearettes went head-to-head against the Hardin-Jefferson Lady Hawks in the UIL Girls Basketball Class 4A State Title game. Throughout a thrilling match, the Bearettes were able to come away with a 50-49 victory! VYPE was there to catch all the action!
The first two quarters of play saw both teams play smart defense against the other while still managing to put similar numbers on the board. The effort was seen from both sides of the ball as the teams went score-for-score through the first half. Matching 14 points each in the first quarter, the second quarter saw Hardin-Jefferson pull away with a little bit of a lead as the Lady Hawks headed into halftime 29-26.
Brownsboro regrouped and knew exactly what to do as they headed into the second half of play. The team posted an incredible 15 points while holding Hardin-Jefferson to only seven points of their own. While Hardin-Jefferson began to make a push in the fourth period of play, their defense used their own tactics to turn the table and hold Brownsboro to only seven. Despite making a run to try to come back and win it, the Bearettes were able to hang on and seal the victory.
Mekhayia Moore scored 19 points while snagging 14 rebounds and 3 steals was named as the 4A Championship MVP.
