The last time a Houston-area girls basketball team hoisted the state trophy, Erica Ogwumike and Nancy Mulkey were seniors in high school.
That duo was a part of the 2015 Cy Woods state championship team that took home the Class 6A title that season. Since then, no Houston team has hoisted the hardware.
Dekaney (2016), Crosby (2016), Cy Ranch (2017), Barbers Hill (2017), Cy Creek (2018), Wheatley (2018), Summer Creek (2019) and Fort Bend Hightower (2019) have been the teams to reach the state tournament since then.
