What a start for the Cypress Ranch girls basketball team.
The Lady Mustangs have raced out of the gates, posting an impressive 13-1 record, the lone loss coming Cibolo Steele, 78-73, in the McDonald's Invitational.
Outside of that, all Cypress Ranch has done is win.
This week the Mustangs opened District 14-6A play against Langham Creek and walked away with a 57-48 victory.
So, who has been helping fuel this start?
Start with Cincinnati-commit Riane Burton. The senior is averaging a team-best 17.5 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in the 11 games posted in their stats. Of those 11 games, Burton has posted a double double in eight of them.
Shadiya Thomas has also played big minutes for the Lady Mustangs so far. Thomas is averaging 16.5 points per game.
Other players who have contributed as well include Shira Patton (11.6 points, 5.9 rebounds), Chelsy Singleton (4.8 points, 5.8 rebounds) and Tracy Matindu (3.4 points). Singleton and Matindu are both freshmen.
This team will definitely be a group to watch as the season progresses throughout District 14-6A play and then eventually into the playoffs.
