FBCA names international soccer star as girls' head coach
Monica Gonzalez has quite the resume.
She played college soccer at Notre Dame, played in World Cups and the Olympics with the Mexican National Team, has been a studio analyst for ESPN and played and coached in the professional ranks.
She has recently been named the Fort Bend Christian Academy girls' soccer coach for the 2019-20 season.
"We are so blessed to get Coach Gonzalez on our campus this season," FBCA AD Kelly Carroll said. "Her international experience as well as her recent work in Mexico with younger females is unmatched. She has been to two World Cups, the Olympics and commentated for ESPN for the 2011 World Cup and Champions League. Her most recent position that brought her to Houston was as an assistant coach of he Houston Dash. I'm excited for her to be impactful with our players. Our girls have a renewed excitement about them that will make this season great.
"She also has her own Wikipedia page," Carroll laughed.
