WATCH NOW- Shane Hallmark was a little choked up after his Bearkats scratched and clawed to beat No. 6 Klein Oak 31-28 on the KUBE 57 Game of the Week.
"I'm just really proud of these guys," he said after the game.
The Klein coach just a "had a feeling when he woke up" Thursday morning. The 'Kats were coming off a 47-21 loss at the hands of Tomball Memorial a week ago and 2018 District MVP Tyson Thompson was ruled out for several games with a broken ankle.
Up next was Klein Oak, loaded with athletes and a 2-0 record.
While Panther WR Dwight McGlothern lived up to the four-star hype with three scores and a circus catch, it was the little Klein offense that could.
The offensive line protected QB Bryce Colliston and opened holes for bulldozing RB Kenzo Viteri, who simply would not be denied. The defense made stops when needed and after a tough week, Klein perservered to go 1-0 in district play.
Klein faces Klein Cain next Friday, while Klein Oak plays Conroe.
