Forney Jackrabbits shut out Mesquite Poteet

Advancing to 3-0 to start the weekend has never looked so good to the Forney Jackrabbits football team. With a 53-0 shut-out victory over Mesquite Poteet, the Jackrabbits are riding a high into district play next week. VYPE DFW takes a look at the team's week three victory:

RECAP

Big offensive plays paired with a defense that shows no quit, Forney overpowered Mesquite Poteet in their final non-district matchup of the 2023-24 Texas High School Football season. Led by Javian Osborne, the Jackrabbits posted a 53-0 victory over the Pirates. Osborne recorded four touchdowns for the Jackrabbits while tallying 130 yards during the game.

Kyle Crawford posted over 200 passing yards for 3 passing touchdowns in a game cut short due to poor weather. With a strong faith in his offense, Crawford was able to make timely decisions from the pocket allowing Forney to take the lead early and run away with the game. Scoring for Forney on the offensive side of the ball was Osborne (four touchdowns), Kofi Eduful (one touchdown), and Orin Gee (three touchdowns). On the defensive side of the ball, Kellen Wolverton came up big midway through the second quarter as he scored a 35-yard pick-six, continuing to run off of the buzz of the night.

What's Ahead

Forney is set to open district play on Friday, September 15th against West Mesquite in front of a home crowd. So far the Jackrabbits have outscored their opponents by a combined 169 points. The team has recorded two shut-out victories-- the recent defeat of Mesquite Poteet and a week two 62-0 victory over Frisco Memorial. Crandall has been the only team able to score against them this season.

After a 5-2 district record and third-place finish in district last season, Forney is geared up for what could very well be one of their strongest seasons yet. Catch this team in action as they look toward unfinished business on the gridiron.
