GREAT EXPECTATIONS: Coleman steps in to direct thriving No. 13 Nimitz program

13 -- NIMITZ COUGARS

Can the Nimitz Cougars keep it going with a new coach leading the huddle?

The Cougars reached the fourth round of the postseason, going 25-13 overall and 11-3 in district play in 2024.

Gone is Tigee Rideaux to lead the Conroe Tigers. So, enter Summer Creek head coach Kenneth Coleman to take over the program.

“I’m inheriting a really good group with a lot of senior experience,” Coleman said. “I’m instilling in these guys to do everything with a purpose. We want to begin with the end in mind. That end is a State Championship.”

Nimitz will get going after the football season is over as Malachi Augustus and Ke’lyn Washom return to the lineup.

In the meantime, watch out for District 21-6A Newcomer of the Year Joshua Coleman (coach’s son) and Jaden Bergeron to lead the way.
