Although defensive backs are considered the secondary, they do provide a primary role as the last line of defense to prevent the offense from scoring.
Whether if it is a shutdown cover cornerback, a ball-hawking free safety or a sure-tackling strong safety, all defensive backs play a vital role to a team's defense.
Last season, players such as Many's Tavier Williams, Tioga's Ty'Darian Quinney, Pineville's Mikinzi Nash, Jena's Shaun Todd and Avoyelles' Robert Scott provided great examples of secondary play and have laid out the blueprint for this year's top defensive backs.
