This week, Flower Mound Marcus sets to take on cross-town rival Flower Mound for another anticipated Mound Showdown. These two teams are looking to improve their record and battle hard on Friday, but what can fans expect to see? VYPE DFW dives into it:
Flower Mound Marcus Marauders (1-3, 1-0)
The Mauraders started their season off in a less-than-ideal fashion. The team opened their season with a 56-24 loss against Highland Park at home. The next game, Flower Mound Marcus traveled to Southlake and fell 57-15 against the Southlake Carroll Dragons. In their third game of the season, the Marauders put up a battle and did everything they could to fight hard against Euless Trinity, but ultimately fell 59-49.
Last week, the Marauders finally secured their first victory of the season as they posted a 34-33 victory in overtime over Hebron for their district opener. Patrick Crayton Jr. helped lead the team to victory while tallying 246 passing yards and three touchdowns. Tyle Hoke, Drew Koster, Ayson McCray Jones, Sheldon Armour, Jess McElroy, and others were also key contributors in the game. Looking to continue strong through district play, Flower Mound Marcus is ready for a battle in Flower Mound on Friday night.
Flower Mound Jaguars (2-2, 0-1)
The Jaguars have secured two victories so far this season-- a season-opening 38-31 victory over Keller Fossil Ridge and a week two 41-21 victory over Lake Highlands. Following their hot start, the team has only been able to scored a combined two points in their other two games-- a 30-7 loss against a tough McKinney team and a 34-7 district opening loss against Lewisville last week.
Led by the likes of Marcus Simpson, Jason Welch, Alex Winkle, Mason Macdonald, Jake Watson, Elliot Trawick, and others, the Jaguars are looking to improve on their record as they enter this week's cross-town rivalry against Flower Mound Marcus.
What To Expect
Last season, Flower Mound Marcus posted a 30-21 victory over the Jaguars and they'll look to defend their champions of the Mound title as they gear up for a Friday night battle. Flower Mound, however, is determined to not only put a stop to the Marauders this season, but to secure their first victory in district play.
Fans can expect a battle to the final whistle in this year's Mound Showdown. Both teams are fired up and ready to improve their schedule while also wanting to take claim to being the best team in Flower Mound. Fans aren't going to want to miss this physical, fast-paced matchup. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. at Flower Mound High School.
