Playoff Ready: District Title Returns To Cedar Park After Latest Win Against Manor

The Cedar Park Timberwolves outscored the visiting Manor Mustangs 49-24 on Friday to wrap up UIL 11-5A Division I play with a perfect district record, so they will head into the postseason with some momentum.

The Timberwolves' overall record has now moved to 9-1, as they will be hosting Austin McCallum for their first playoff game of the season on Thursday at John Gupton Stadium. The McCallum Knights' record is currently 5-5, as they wrapped that up with a 42-0 shutout win against the Austin Travis Rebels in their last regular season game.

"We're gonna continue to treat it how we have all year long," Cedar Park head coach Carl Abseck said regarding playoffs. "Just one game at a time, and be singular[ly] focused on McCallum."

The Cedar Park Timberwolves have high expectations for this year's playoffs. Losing to Shadow Creek last year, the Timberwolves are hoping to meet them again at the regional final to "Take it Back."

Friday's game against the Manor Mustangs started out hot because Gunnar Abseck scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, as opposed to the Mustangs' lone field goal. In the second quarter, the Timberwolves put up 28 points to Manor's 7. With Ryder Hernandez connecting to Josh Cameron twice for 25 and 30-yard touchdowns, and another touchdown run for 25 yards by Ryder Hernandez, the Timberwolves put themselves ahead going into the half.

The Manor Mustangs struck back with two touchdowns before Cedar Park senior running back Jonathan Stockwell ran for 16 yards on the last scoring play of the game.

With Manor getting ready to play Dripping Springs and the Timberwolves set on winning against McCallum, there is still a chance that the two teams could meet again in the playoffs.
