ON THE LINKS FOR THE KLEIN OAK BOYS GOLF TEAM.
The Panthers advanced to the Class 6A Region II Championship as a team. At the end of the two-day tournament, they finished 13th overall, finishing with a total score of 696 (+66). The group was led by junior Juan Urriola who finished +20 (84, 80 – 164) for the tournament, which put him in a three-way tie for 47th overall. Samuel Hollier was just eight strokes behind, +28 (82, 90 – 172), and tied for 63rd. Other nice performances came from Colin Jantz +28 (90, 100-190) and Nikesh Nair +31 (95, 103 – 198), who finished 77th and 80th overall.
With all of those golfers back for 2022, this team has a shot to make another run at the Regional Tournament.
On the girls’ side, they will look to get another Panther to the Regional Tournament this season.
Watch for seniors Amy Edgar and Kameryn “Kami” Rogers to lead this group from an experience standpoint. Do not count out the freshman Anjali Nair whose older brother Nikesh was on the team a year ago and a Regional Qualifier.
Anjali had a busy year on the Beltway Junior Golf Tour and finished in the Top 10 in all her events and ranked No. 5 in the Girls Diamond Division at tour’s end.
