Spring Woods Tigers Inside The Huddle: Thomas Ainsworth

When the District 17-6A All-District football squads were rolled out, Spring Woods had a pair of players make the cut. Senior tight end Kurt Ferguson and junior linebacker Thomas Ainsworth earned an honorable-mention nod.

VYPE caught up with Ainsworth at the VYPE Winter Media Day for a Q&A.

VYPE: How did you start playing football?

Ainsworth: It all started off when I was in the fourth grade. I played Little League and I've always loved playing the game. It's always been challenging but there are always great rewards throughout playing.

VYPE: After going 1-9 this year, what'd you all learn as a team and yourself as a player?

Ainsworth: As a team, we learned how to handle a lot of adversity coming from other people. We learned how to grow stronger as a team. For myself, I just learned to keep going even though things might be tough or hard. Just keep pushing and eventually you're going to make it through.

VYPE: Heading into your senior year, how are you going to embrace the leadership role that comes with that?

Ainsworth: As a leader, I feel like I need to make more improvements on my game and keep my teammates in check. I'll do that by setting a good example and hopefully try to play a big role in getting a couple of wins next season.
