Angleton is coming off a 25-9-1 campaign in 2024 that saw the Ladycats reach the playoffs. Sixteenth-year coach Cindy Rubio (378-118-3 at Angleton; 452 career coaching wins) returns nine starters to the dugout this season including District 20-5A reigning Pitcher of the Year Rylee Church and Offensive Player of the Year Lily Soliz (McNeese State commit).
Soliz hit .396 for Angleton a year ago. First-team, all-district utility player Lily Calderon (.419 batting average) and second-team, all-district outfielder Ambi Linscombe are also set to return.
Other players to watch include Brooklynn Walton (Temple College-commit), Jenna Sebesta (San Jac-commit), Hailey Mancuso (Cisco Junior Collegecommit), Alyssa Orozco (Howard Payne University-commit), Hailey Broussard (Hill College-commit) and Gracie Walker.
Keys to success for Rubio’s team include coming together offensively and continuing to grow defensively. “We have a big group of seniors (11) who will lead us this year,” Rubio said. “Their leadership will be a big factor in the success of the season.”
