THE RECAP: Westlake Chaparrals vs. Anderson Trojans Football

This past Thursday’s match up between the Westlake Chaparrals at the Anderson Trojans began with fun and festivities at Nelson Field

Middle school night, Pink Out for breast cancer awareness and the cheerleader dads joining in on the sidelines lead to a fun first quarter which saw the Trojans leading at one point 14 to 13.

The offensive standouts for Anderson were included Zayden Sharp (Jr. WR) who snagged two touchdown catches, while fellow junior Ed Small complied several big gains through the air from senior QB Brady Gephart. Anderson's signal-caller had another solid outing, also using his feet to make some big plays. RBs Dayden Williams and Dominic Mays also contributed on the ground for the Trojans.

After a close first quarter it was all Westlake, outscoring the Trojans 34-0 in the second quarter, with two more scores in the second half to end the night with 67-14 victory.

The Chaps' major contributions came from senior QB Paxton Land, Jack Kayser (Sr. RB) and junior WR Brody Wilhelm. Furthermore, Westlake's defense was a major difference-maker on the night, scored twice off a fumble recovery and an interception.

Westlake's dominance continues, as they move on to 6-0 (4-0 in district) on the season, with coach Tony Salazar's group slated to face off against district rival Dripping Springs (5-1) this Friday at home.
