After not making the Regional Finals for 17 years, Katy made that run in 2020. The question is, was that a flash in the pan? No. That’s the answer. Katy made a run back to the Regional Finals in 2021, making it back-to- back trips for the first time in program history. The previous two were 1993 and 1991.
This will be a new-look team in 2022, though.
Gone is Chandler Lee, Jordan Gamble, Izzy Denton and Maddie Waak – offensive and defensive stalwarts. Madeleine Chaapel (212 kills) and Addison Chapman (155 kills) will be asked to step up.
Watch for Kaylea Marhofer to emerge in the setter role, while Nyla Wold and Presley Bunting will be looked to help at the outside hitter spot. Jessie Leach will play DS/Libero, while Kennedy Pike holds down the middle. This will be a new-look squad but is still dangerous.
