VYPE CENTRAL TEXAS GAME OF THE WEEK RETURNS: 102.7 FM ESPN Austin Radio/VYPE Simulcast Showcases Expansive Broadcast Lineup

Fans can still find sports magic on terrestrial radio airwaves, especially when it comes to Texas High School Football.

And when drivers find themselves stuck in Austin’s road construction-fueled traffic this fall, they can once again tune their radio dials to 102.7 FM ESPN Austin and catch VYPE’s Central Texas High School Football Game of the Week each Friday night during football season.

Waterloo Media, the parent company behind ESPN Austin, KLBJ AM/FM and several other radio stations, first partnered with VYPE last fall as part of its effort to expand its high school and local sports presence.

VYPE is set to produce online broadcasts for 14 high school football teams in the Austin area alone and others statewide this fall.

With so many local games to choose from, simulcasting a different VYPE football stream each Friday night on 102.7 FM was an easy way to establish the cornerstone of the partnership.

“Our partnership with VYPE has boosted our brand’s image as the premiere source for live, local sports coverage in Austin,” stated Waterloo Media Program Director and longtime radio personality, Mark Caesar.

Beyond the broadcasts, VYPE also shares other Austin-area content, such as player and coach profiles,highlight videos, articles and more, on the ESPN Austin website, https://www.1027espn.com/.

According to VYPE Media CEO Derek Dusek, the partnership has proven invaluable in growing VYPE’s brand beyond the company’s Houston base.

Season Two of the VYPE Central Texas High School Football Game of the Week kicks off Friday, August 30, when Vandegrift hosts Dripping Springs in what’s fast become one of the most intriguing rivalries in the state.

The series will feature a different VYPE matchup on 102.7 FM ESPN Austin each Friday night for as long as VYPE is broadcasting a local game throughout the post-season.
