West Brook looks to rebound vs Deer Park

The West Brook Bruins are coming off a tough loss to North Shore last week that saw their defense give up a staggering 53 points. But Eric Peevey's squad is still a solid favorite to work through the playoffs through Thanksgiving.

The Bruins travel to Deer Park this Friday night, who themselves are fighting for a playoff spot with a district record at 3-2.

"When you play a great team like North Shore you get to see your flaws," said Peevey, into his third season as West Brook head coach.

"Our kids battled their tails off (last week) but we weren't satisfied with the outcome. We've got to keep going to work and we have a tough Deer Park team to do that against."

The Bruins will have the wind to their backs Friday as West Brook brings the top district offense, behind district MVP candidate Troy Yowman. The senior QB is third in the city of Houston in passing and has the top district receiver in speedster Thaddeus Johnson.

The aerial combo has combined for nine touchdowns on the season with Joey Pierre (23 rec, 547 yds, 5 TD) and Jordan Babino (17 rec, 259 yds, 3 TD) also contributing.

Deer Park does have weapons of their own in junior quarterback Matthew Potts (1410 yds, 9 pass TD) and senior WR Clyde Bellow (29 rec, 670 yds, 7 TD) but the Deer defense is just too big a liability to compete with the Bruin firepower.

West Brook will win easily and Yowman will confirm himself as a top threat division one talent.

Next week West Brook hosts Sterling (1-8, 0-5) and Deer Park travels to Beaumont United (5-3, 2-3) morning .
