VYPE caught up with the winners of the VYPE Anglers of the Year poll – Easton Anderson & Ty Cruse. Their highlight of the season includes a 4th place finish at the March SETX HS Fishing Association Tournament
VYPE: Who has been your biggest influence in your sporting life? And Why?
ANDERSON: My biggest influence in my sporting life is my parents and my grandfather. They push me to be a better fisherman and a better person, no matter the outcome.
CRUSE: My dad has been the biggest influence on my life. He's pushed me to be the best I could possibly be and never gave up on me.

VYPE: What has been your greatest HS memory so far?
ANDERSON: The greatest memory I've had in high school is when we won a tournament my freshman year sitting in the hot seat with butterflies was just awesome.
CRUSE: My greatest memory from high school fishing was freshmen year when my partner and I won a fishing tournament.

VYPE: What is your favorite thing about fishing with your teammate?
ANDERSON: The best thing about fishing with my teammate is that he always has something to say so the tournament isn't boring on slow days.
CRUSE: Easton Anderson has been the best teammate, he's worked hard and pulled his share of the weight.

VYPE: What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
ANDERSON: I see myself in 5 years hopefully fishing FLW or BFL with my success and get recognized.
CRUSE: I'm going to school for computer science and I look forward to designing softwares and possibly working in one of the plants.

VYPE: What advice would you give a younger athlete starting his/her HS career?
ANDERSON: The advice I give to young anglers are that you gotta keep throwing and don't give up even when the times are hard. You never know when that big bite is gonna happen.
CRUSE: Don't give up and follow you dreams. You have to make every moment count.

VYPE: What do you do outside of sports?
ANDERSON: Outside of sports I hang with my buddies on the bayou and hunt a lot.
