Previewing Argyle (11-0)

Argyle enters the area round on a roll - simple as that - after hammering Dallas Carter 56-23, leading 49-7 at halftime. There's a reason the team has remained No. 1 throughout our Top 10 rankings since beating Waco La Vega in its second game of the year and currently preside over our

Flat out, the team has been awesome. Led by quarterback Bo Hogeboom, who has thrown for nearly 2,900 yards and 45 touchdowns, and the running back tandem of Luke Farris and Tito Byce, the Eagles are certainly looking like a state champion material.

Argyle has won by its games by an average of nearly 32 points (350 point differential on the season) and had string of six straight games of scoring 62 points or more. The closest was win the aforementioned 14-point road win over La Vega.

Argyle has been tested this year and has come away victorious against all six teams that finished with winning records and made the playoffs, averaging 52 points a game in those contests and giving up just 29.5

Previewing Stephenville (6-4)

Stephenville is on its third, two-game win streak of the year after downing Fort Worth Dunbar 56-14 to open the playoffs last week. It was the most points Stephenville has scored this year and marked the third time the offense topped over 500 yards of offense.

Stephenville is a team that certainly wins and loses like a near-.500 team, winning games by an average of 33.5-11.5 and losing by an average of 18.8 to 38.8. Its point differential on the year is 52.

Offensively, the Yellow Jackets put up 429.1 yards a game and have a 52-48 split in percentage of yards between passing and rushing. However, the offense has been pretty weak in losses this years, averaging just 313.5 yards in those four games.

Stephenville a schedule full of playoff-bound teams this year - eight to be exact, including last week over Dunbar. Stephenville is 4-4 in those games but 0-4 this year against teams with winning records, including against Argyle.

Previewing the Game

As the playoffs continue on, we'll be seeing more and more rematches in the year. This Area Round matchup is a Week 1 rematch where Argyle completely dominated Stephenville 42-14 on the road.

The Eagles held Stephenville to just 200 yards of offense while putting up 508 of their own and jumping out to a 35-0 lead by halftime - a constant theme for Argyle this year.

Argyle should handle this rematch pretty easily. The offense is too powerful and five of the games we found stats for (three of them losses), Stephenville has shown a propensity for giving up a lot of yards.

The only possible weak area for Argyle is its run defense, where it gives up 210 yards a game. In the first match up, though, Stephenville only gave up 124 yards on the ground. Three teams were able to put up 376 yards or more on the ground against Argyle.

Argyle wins here to get to the 4A Division I Region II Regional Semifinals where it will meet either Alvarado or Brownwood.

Prediction: Argyle 48, Stephenville 17
