BASES LOADED: Veteran talent returns for No. 7 Clear Falls
No. 7 -- Clear Falls Knights
2023: 23-14 (District 24-6A Champions/Regional Quarterfinalist)
Even though they compete against some tough district competitors on a yearly basis, the Knights always seem to find themselves churning out victories.
This season should be no different, as Clear Falls is coming off their first district championship since 2018 and a trip to round No. 3 of the playoffs.
Under the direction of coach Eddie Youngblood, the Knights will feature the 24-6A Newcomer of the Year David Ramirez (Texas-commit), and returning all-district selections Austin Rawls and Noah Paulson.
Middle-infielder Carson Timmons (New Mexico State), Preston Somerville and Matthew Novominsky will also play bigger roles this season.

THE CASTLE: Senior-led Clear Falls wraps up career with another successful season
When Zach Head took over the Clear Falls head coaching job in 2016, he knew he had to flip the culture.
He has done just that as the Clear Falls Knights continue to fill the trophy case as the football team advanced to its third Area Round playoff appearance in four years. The Knights finished second in District 24-6A just behind Dickinson, going 7-5 overall.
"The culture at Clear Falls has changed drastically," quarterback Landon Vessel said. "We went from a struggling 6A football team, to a team that is expected to win and to make it deep into the playoffs."
QB Landon Vessel was the team MVP and a district first-teamer, accounting for over 2,800 yards and 24 TDs. His favorite target was first-teamer Kyle Hoffpauir and was protected by first-team OL Jude Edwards. Edwards was all-district three years in a row and is the all-time leader in starts at Clear Falls.
"It was great being QB1 for the Knights, the pressure, the atmosphere and the hype built around it just made it all worth it," Vessel said. "Being a part of the program has meant the world to me. Seeing the growth of it and being able to help it grow, is truly an honor and I can’t wait to see what the future holds."
DB Xavier Williams, LB Jackson Waid, Le'Kell McGowan, Angus Pingel and John Hurst were recognized first-teamers on defense. McGowan has committed to Texas State.
This was a special senior class at Clear Falls but the bar has bee set for the Knights moving forward. Stay tuned.
