Two Fort Bend teams looking to get at least partial control of a playoff berth out of District 20--6A will battle tonight at Mercer Stadium, and you can listen to the live broadcast on vypefortbend.com starting at 6:15PM.
The Austin Bulldogs (2-2 in district play) face the Kempner Cougars. Even though the Cougars are 1-3, they're coming off their best game of the season (a 28-14 win over Dulles last week) and, other than still having to face Travis in the final two weeks, they have a chance to finish 3-4. In this crazy district, that might get them involved in a coin flip to determine who gets the fourth postseason berth.
Bulldogs' WR Troy Omeire is tied for the district lead in receptions (55) and touchdown receptions (9), and can score from anywhere on their field. Kempner's defense had been known for giving up large amounts of yards and points for the previous six seasons - but the Coogs are playing lights-out defense in 2019. They allow only 241.3 yards per game (2nd only to Bush) and Jalen Bates has five interceptions - second only to Cameron Oliver of Travis, who has six.
Tomorrow night, vypefortbend.com will broadcast the Elkins-Ridge Point game from Hall Stadium at 6:45PM. The Knights and Panthers are both 3-1, and the winner will walk away alone in 2nd place behind Travis with only two more games to play. Travis plays Clements Saturday at 12:45PM, also live on vypefortbend.com.
