- 1) New Caney – QB Zion Childress
This is the definition of a dual-threat quarterback. During the offseason, New Caney coach Brady Pennington applauded Childress for the steps he had taken to get better. Against Houston Heights, Childress showed off his athletic prowess. The UTSA-commit passed for 196 yards and rushed for another 199 and racked up three touchdowns.
- 2 ) Katy Taylor – Trevor Woods
What a stat line for Trevor Woods. It was a big night for Woods in the win for Katy Taylor, finishing with 15 tackles, two for loss. On top of that, Woods had two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. That is a solid night of work.
- 3) Shadow Creek – QB Kyron Drones
The big question for Shadow Creek coming into the season was – who would step in for QB Jamarian George. Well, here comes Kyron Drones. The dual-threat quarterback really showed off against Magnolia. Drones passed for 296 yards and four touchdowns, rushed for another 102 yards and two scores. Are you kidding? Six combined touchdowns! What a performance.

Conroe put up some big numbers! Against Aldine Davis in a 42-21 victory, the Conroe Tigers offense flew. Michael Phoenix flew like a Phoenix and had eight receptions for 243 yards and four touchdowns. He completely showed being the No. 1 target for Christian Pack, who had a nice night as well.
- 5)Manvel – QB Tucker Yarbrough
Manvel is off to a 2-0 start to the 2019 season. The Mavericks clocked in a 37-29 victory over Crosby last week and a big reason why was Tucker Yarbrough. The senior quarterback passed for 324 yards and four scores.
