Thursday had another great night of football. The Shadow Creek Sharks took on the Foster Falcons in a high class district game. As we all remember, this was the same matchup that sent the Sharks to the 2018 UIL 5A Division I state semifinal before playing in the year's state championship game.
With the Sharks being 4-0 in district and 7-0 for the overall season, the Falcons were hoping to provide the Sharks' first loss of the season. The competition level was high on the field, with top recruits from both programs making it worth a watch. The Sharks' defense came out first with LSU commit Alec Bryant, Kansas State commits Jeremiah Harris and Ronald Triplette and many other playmakers like Jaylen Lane and TJ Marshall. You would've expected a Falcons' three-and-out, but that wasn't the case. The Falcons slowly pushed the ball down the field to put points on the board first, making the score 7-0 after their first drive.
The Sharks' offense is a force to be reckoned with, and junior quarterback Kyron Drones has proven to everyone he knows how to launch the ball to any wide receiver on the field or take off when needed. Last night, the Sharks' offense had a slow start, only scoring 14 points in the first half, which isn't a normal feeling for them this season. The Sharks' defense also held the Falcons to only three points in the second quarter and went into halftime with a 14-10 lead.
During the third quarter, both the Falcons' and the Sharks' defenses made a strong presentation. It wasn't until the Sharks caused a forced fumble with about six minutes left in the third that allowed them to take advantage and turn the fumble into a touchdown, making the score 21-10 before the fourth quarter.
The Falcons' defense held the Sharks to only three points in the fourth quarter. While the Sharks allowed the Falcons to score one more time with about two minutes left on the clock, the game ended with a score of 24-17 after great competition from both teams.
The Sharks added another win to their belt, leaving them with an 8-0 overall record and a 5-0 record in district. Next Thursday, the Sharks will take on Fort Bend Hightower at Hall Stadium at 7 pm.
