Amarillo High blasts Abilene Cooper 58-27
Blake Bedwell scored three touchdowns, including an 88-yard kickoff return to start the second half, and Amarillo High returned two interceptions for touchdowns as the Golden Sandstorm blasted Cooper 58-27 in a District 2-5A Division I game Friday at Shotwell Stadium.
The loss, coupled with Amarillo Caprock's 59-49 victory over Lubbock Coronado, leaves the Cougars as the district's No. 4 seed. Cooper (5-5 overall, 4-2 district) will open the playoffs in El Paso against Eastwood (7-3) next week.
Beau Barker threw for 236 yards and a TD, while running for another as Amarillo High (7-3, 4-2) nabbed the third seed. He threw three picks, but Cooper turned the ball over five times.
