PREVIEW: Dallas Christian School hungry for more titles
The Dallas Christian School Chargers are making waves in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Led by some of the area's best private school athletes, the Chargers are on the hunt for more titles. Nearing the top of the VYPE DFW Private School Preseason Football Rankings, does this year's squad have what it takes to secure a three-peat?
REWIND
Defeating Houston's Second Baptist (33-14) in the 2021-22 season and following that title with another state title victory over Houston's Cypress Creek (24-0), the Chargers are riding the high from last season. Posting only one loss the entire season (a 35-24 loss to Fort Worth Christian at the end of September), the team finished with a 13-1 overall record while outscoring their opponents by over a combined 400 points.
Facing tough non-district opponents like Bishop Dunne, Bishop Lynch, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic, and more, the team was no stranger to playing hard and reaping the benefits of their victories. Facing down a district schedule like The Covenant School, Bullard Brook Hill, McKinney Christian, and The Shelton School proved to be no issue for this prepared squad. Through the playoffs, the team Colleyville Covenant Christian, Bullard Brook Hill, and Lubbock's Trinity Christian Academy packing before posting a shut-out state championship victory over Cypress Christian.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Chargers are looking toward another successful year as they prepare for non-district play. The team opens their season in front of a home crowd on August 25th where they will take on Bishop Dunne. Facing the likes of Ouachita Christian, Tolar, Bishop Lynch, and Fort Worth Christian through the preseason shouldn't be difficult for this determined team.
Returning Chris Scott, Kahtori Crawl, Luke Carney, William Nettles, Micah Mata, Jaden Davis, Garrett Blasingame, and more to their roster, the Chargers are looking to dominate their district schedule yet again. Fans can expect a fast-paced team this fall as they look toward a three-peat state title run. Following preseason play, the team will begin their district schedule at home against The Covenant School on October 6th.
