It's State or Bust for Duncanville in 2019
It was showdown of the immovable force versus the unstoppable object when Duncanville and North Shore battled it out in the state finals. For Duncanville, the unstoppable object snatched a win from the jaws of defeat at the very last moment - landing at the Number 1 moment of the 2018 season.
Coach Reginald Samples' squad will most likely be guided by falling the shortest of shorts and be on a mission to claim State in 2019. Duncanville brings back 12 starters from last year's team including quarterback Ja'Quiden Jackson and defensive back Chris Thompson - both 4-star Texas pledges. While the offense was effective for Duncanville last year, the defense was the envy of the entire state as it held opponents to less than 10 points a game and pitched six shutouts last year.
With 15 starters back from an impressive 7-3 campaign, Dallas Skyline is primed for more success in 2019, which should culminate in a deeper playoff run. A big hole at quarterback needs to be filled, but Skyline has seven starters back on offense that can certainly pick up the slack until the new starting QB finds his legs.
Richardson Pearce shocked many, if not all prognosticators last year by shocking Cedar Hill in the first round of the playoffs last year. With 10 starters back and 35 returning lettermen, Pearce should comfortably get back to the playoffs and has the potential to go further than the second round.
Richardson steals the last playoffs spot in our projections after just missing out last year and having 11 returning starters from last year's 5-5 team. It will be up to Greg Pels' offense to guide Richardson as it has eight of the returning starters back, which should be just fine as there are a number of talented skill position players to utilize.
