The 2022 high school volleyball season is in full flex and there are a plethora of players off to tremendous starts to their respective seasons.
Welcome to the VYPE Playmakers, powered by UTMPB Health, where we highlight five players who have set an early high standard to their play on the court.
Sydney Gibson, Friendswood sophomore.VYPE Media

The sophomore outside hitter has helped the Mustangs to a fast and furious 13-4 start this season. Gibson leads the team with 3.1 kills per set and has added 102 digs, 13 aces and 13 total blocks in 43 sets played.
Kimanni Rugley, Pearland sophomore.VYPE Media

Rugley has made quite the first impression in her first varsity season. The sophomore middle/outside hitter has helped the Oilers to an early 9-3 standing, averaging 2.4 kills per set (on 43 percent hitting) to go with 30 total blocks and seven aces in 29 sets played.
Morgan Durgens, Clear Springs junior.VYPE Media

As of August 22, the Chargers were 10-2 and on a seven-game winning streak. A big reason for that has been the exceptional play of junior setter Morgan Durgens. Durgens had 189 assists (5.9 per set) and 70 digs (2.2 per set) through 32 sets to go with 11 kills and 10 aces.

The sophomore hitter, who plays outside or right side, has been huge for the Gators, wh had eight wins through their first 15 games. Loyd is averaging a team-best 3.1 kills per set to go with 32 digs, 21 aces and 10 total blocks through 37 sets played.

Sophomore middle hitter Kenna Sambrano has been impressive this season, averaging 1.9 kills per set to go with 44 total blocks, 30 aces and 57 digs in 102 sets played. The 5-foot-11 Sambrano has a kill percentage of 36.7 percent.
