VYPE Louisiana's Top 20 Rankings - Week 9

Despite the inclement weather across the state last week, the vast majority of the state's top teams took care of business. Isidore Newman and University Lab were the only two top 20 teams to be defeated, both sliding out of the rankings.
The biggest mover in the rankings is Alexandria after picking up their 7th win against a quality Ruston High team. The Alexandria Trojan's only loss of the year came at the hand of #4 West Monroe.
Also at 7-1, Carencro busts into the top 20 with this week after a blowout victory over Abbeville. Their only loss of the season was to #5 Acadiana. Along with the Carencro Bears, East Ascension reenters the top 20.
Next week should provide move of a shakeup in the standings as Bastrop visits Neville and, perhaps the biggest game of the season, #1 John Curtis faces #3 Archbishop Rummel.

Catholic, St. Thomas More's instant-classic headlines Top 20 rankings

Week 5 of LHSAA football was highlighted by one of the best games of the decade.
In this instant classic, Catholic High (BR) hit a game winning 34-yard field goal to top St. Thomas More, 52-50. The two teams combined for 102 points and 1,184 yards of total offense. Catholic will play their fourth straight Top 20 opponent, East Ascension, next week as they continue to bolster their case for the top spot.
Speaking of the top spot, John Curtis continues to roll with a 61-14 victory over Lake Placid (FL). John Curtis' stacked Class 5A District 9 heats up with district play next week, with the Rummel Raiders taking on Brother Martin.
West Monroe and Rummel both stay undefeated with wins over Neville and Archbishop Shaw, respectively. In addition to star WR and LSU commit Koy Moore, Rummel's defense continues to impress, giving up only 6 points on the season.
