THE STATUS: VYPE DFW Girls Basketball Rankings at the season's midway-point; Guyer, Lincoln on the rise
Just like that, we're already well within the tournament portion of this new winter season.
On its face, this stage presents several opportunities for programs to hone their skills against some potent competition. From the audiences' perspective, it allows us to further understand the who's who of Texas high school girls hoops.
As predicted in the preseason, the Boswell Pioneers appears to be the team to beat in Class 6A, as they currently maintain an daunting record of 21-1 and are the No. 1-ranked team in the state, according to MaxPreps.
Following Boswell in the state rankings are the Lincoln Tigers, who have yet to be defeated entering the holiday season, and are primed to dominate Class 4A in the coming months.
One of the most welcome surprises throughout 2024 so far, however, has been the emergence of Denton Guyer. After going 10-20 last winter, the Wildcats have made a stunning turn-around and are now regarded as a legitimate state power.
This isn't meant to downplay the threat posed by Braswell, Flower Mound, Prosper, and, of course, the 2024 State Champs Duncanville in Class 6A, all of whom will be key contenders in the upcoming postseason.
Additionally, fans should keep an eye on Argyle (5A), Wakeland (5A), and Glen Rose (4A), as each are off to tremendous starts.
Now, with all that out of the way, it's time to examine the premier forces the city has to offer, in our updated DFW rankings.
